RESUSCITATION, ANAESTHETIC AND TRAUMA SKILLS
We want to empower trauma team members.
The RATS Course is a one day practical course designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to make meaningful contributions to the care of trauma patients.
Stations include major haemorrhage protocols (Code Red), rapid infusion devices, large bore central and peripheral IV access and REBOA - all designed to get you hands on from the first minute. We only cover the essential elements of the physiological and pathological aspects of trauma and give you the maximum amount of time to become familiar with the kit.

In addition to the course, we will provide you with the RATS Textbook. This textbook is an extension of the course and in addition to the stations mentioned, will cover airway management from Rapid Sequence Induction (RSI), videolaryngoscopes to high-flow nasal cannulae as well as covering other fundamental aspects of trauma management such as the prevention of hypothermia, management of brain injury and key patient groups such as obstetric and paediatric trauma. Like the course, the focus is not on an extensive transfer of deep knowledge that can be found elsewhere, but passing on meaningful, practical advice and tips that will help you become an active participant in trauma resuscitation.

Currently, the RATS course is being piloted with internal candidates at the Royal London Hospital - we hope to open to external candidates in greater numbers very soon. Please subscribe to our emailing list to stay up to date.

The RATS Textbook
In addition, to the practical course you will also be provided with the RATS textbook. This comprehensive text included practical tips and tricks to use a huge variety of equipment, both frequently and infrequently, whilst caring for the trauma patient.
